I have been after a lamp for the dining room sideboard for years. I have ummed and ahhed over many a lamp, but never committing to something for the fear of choosing the wrong thing. Madness isn’t it? I was after something that was traditional, yet contemporary. Something I could live with in years to come and won’t date. Gosh it was hard to find. Until I saw this one on-line at Lighting Majestic.
This beautiful Joel black table lamp is everything I have been looking for. It has vintage feel to it, yet the chrome neck looks contemporary. At the moment I have it on the sideboard, as extra lighting when I am working at the table at night. It would look equally great as bedside lamp or next to the sofa as a reading light. As the boys get older, this lamp would be great on their desk as a task light for their homework and perhaps can go with them when they go off to Uni. Now that really is forward thinking.
As you can see, I think long and hard about items for my home. Fashion trends and a throw away culture doesn’t sit well with me. I much prefer the old saying ‘buy once, buy right’ – or something like that.
I also love family heirlooms, we have many items which have been passed on to us that once were owned by our Grandparents and parents. Like our old stereo. It belonged to Dan’s dad, who bought it back in the early 80’s, and Dan grew up listening to it. Now our boys listen to music with it. Cool eh?
Winner will be announced on Friday 6th March – good luck!
