Bedroom – shades of grey…

grey painted bedrooms littlegreenshed blog

No, not that sort of shades of Grey… but grey paint.  We are almost ready to move onto the fun part of DIY, decorating the boys old bedroom, and transforming it into ours!  The loft room is almost finished, just a lick of white paint on the ceiling and then we are good to go.

Operation changing rooms will begin.  The boys bunk bed will be split into two single beds, and placed under each of the eaves, providing a cosy den space for each of them to sleep in.  The spare room (dump room) has now been cleared and cleaned and will temporarily become our place to sleep whilst we decorate the master bedroom.

My bedroom inspiration board is full of different colours and styles but I keep going back to the cosy calmness of grey.  In particular I love the room top right.  So calm and restful.  I am hoping to keep the space very minimal, just the bed, a chest of drawers, the wardrobe and a plant…. that’s it.

I’ve been looking at paint, and have decided the colours I love are Lamp Room Gray from Farrow and Ball and Grey Moss by Little Greene Paint Co. But I still can’t make up my mind.  So, what do you think?

Are doing a big DIY Spring clean this year?  I know so many people who are… there is something in the early spring air!

  • I have Farrow and Balls lamp room grey in my spare bedroom paired with a charcoal headboard from with grey and duck egg blue cushions scattered on the bed. Personally I have to say go with Lamp Room Grey, the colours perfect and the finish is immaculate.

  • You have read my mind. I decided our red painted bedroom is going to be transformed with lamp room grey this week. It may take a while to get around to doing so but grey it is so thank you for inspiring.

  • Hi Lou! I’ve just painted my hall in Grey Moss from LG and absolutely adore it…it’s become my new ‘obsession’ colour. It does have tones of green in it which I kind of like…but is most defo a grey. I used Lamp Room Grey in a spare room and although I like it, with the light in that particular room it has ‘bluey’ tones and not a proper grey to me. Don’t you just love how paint samples and then complete walls in different light look so different! xs

  • I love our grey bedroom, it is so calming, and the charcoal textures of some of the fabric give it warmth and depth. I worried it would look cold but it just feels serene, and also meant I could bring in a little pattern without it feeling too feminine for a shared bedroom! We used eglise grey by crown, it was from their petit palais range which I have used with great success in three rooms but unfortunately now seems to have been discontinued. Happy decorating!

  • I love all shades of grey and they’re so easy to decorate with too. I’m hoping to get my office done – I need it for the crafty bits and wedding planning! :)
