May Day Posies 2015…

May Day Posies 2015 Littlegreenshed blog
Foraged lilacs and my new Dartmouth pottery vase from 19 Alexandra Rd.

Wow, how amazing was it yesterday on Instagram?  Under the tag #NITHMayDay, my feed was filled with an abundance of floral beauties!  I became quite overwhelmed with the variety of stunning arrangements and by how many people across the world joined in to celebrate this beautiful old Pagan tradition.

Last Wednesday was the #stylingspringatmine workshop, of which I was one of the judges. I was supposed to attend, make a Spring wreath with Katy of Apartment Apothecary and Charlotte from lottsandlots.  Using flowers from Bloom and Wild.  But sadly Ru was taken ill and I couldn’t attend. :(

Part of the workshop, was dedicated to making May Day posies.  I was going to give a little talk on the background to the tradition and lead a making of the jars.  I am delighted to see that the lovely ladies still made their May Day posies and delivered them to friends.  Thank you all! x

So creative and pretty! Flower hair by @electricdaisyflowerfarm

The creativity of this years May Day makes was mind blowing! So many of you made incredible vessels out of paper, and gorgeous arrangements, your creativity blew me away!  LOVE electricdaisyflowerfarms floral hair!  How cool!

Above all, heart felt arrangements were left on friends and neighbours doors worldwide yesterday, and this alone was a thing of beauty. Thank you so much for joining me.  If you pop over to #NITHMayDay you can view everyone’s images who took part.

I can’t wait for 2016!

  • Such a beautiful tradition….I gave posies to neighbours and friends. I delivered them to neighbours in person and this provided a lovely opportunity for a chat and making a connection. Next year I hope to deliver more!
