This was our third year to visit Camp Bestival. The boys were in their usual heightened state, uber excited about the many wonderful things in store.
In previous years we have camped, taken a hire camper van – but this year due to timing and other commitments we decided to visit for one day only – Saturday.
Saturday was hot, a true scorcher of a day. Not a cloud in sight. We made our way through the camp area across the fields to one of our favourite spots behind the castle. There the boys spent a while playing with the wonky bikes and the honing their circus skills, while Dan and I took stock of the surroundings.
It was busy. Full of people enjoying themselves in the sunshine. The smell of festival food wafting through the crowd and the sound of the music from the main stage pumping. We were here again – I’d forgotten how much I loved it.
As we got up to move off to the other kids field, the Circus of Lost Souls arrived. One of our highlights of last years festival. Such a brilliant team of people – the monkey men are a little scary mind – be warned.
Then suddenly we were caught up in a beautiful carnival – such costumes! We have only moved 100 metres. Camp Bestival just layers the fun on, no need to wander around for hours to find something. Perfect for small families.
As we were at the festival for the day, we chose to take a picnic for lunch, bringing it in a cool box. But for supper and snacks we ate at the many wonderful food stalls that line the fields. Churros, Indian Samosas, Noodles and in the food tent I found a Moroccan wrap filled with tabbouleh, hummus and lamb – yum!
Camp Bestival is all and everything. You can fulfil all of your childhood wishes there. Skating, tree climbing, dancing, fancy dress, circus skills, acting, science, craft and more! It is epic!
What we loved:
- Making dens in the woods
- Using hammer and nails to help build a boat
- Eating festival foods
- Meeting DJ BBQ and scoring a cap
- Hanging out with friends
- Beer in the sun
- Listening to Dick and Dom read a bed time story/nonsense
Thank you to Camp Bestival for donating us a family pass for the purpose of this review.
