A touch of the med with Luxaflex shutters…

Littlegreenshed blog - shutters with Luxaflex

I have long hankered for a home with shutters. I think spending time in South of France has instilled this love.  Shutters evoke a sense of cosmopolitan air, mediterranean or perhaps even far distant places such as Cuba and Central America.  I love how shutters, look, clean lines, no fuss.  Easy to maintain and above all cuts out the light when needed.

Earlier this year, Luxaflex ran a giveaway over on Instagram, a chance to win blinds or shutters of your choice.  I knew I had to enter.  So I shared this image… a styled bedroom shot, below.  Simple, cosy and calm.  To my joy I won!  Yes!

Honestly, this was so cool!  I quickly checked with Luxaflex that shutters were included in the prize and soon after they sent along their rep, Gary, to visit me at home to talk through the options.

Gary was super helpful.  Advising me of three different styles of shutters, I eventually chose the simple white faux wood design, perfect for my paired back interior.  Gary measured up the windows, talking me through his ideas on how they would look, taking into account the style of my Victorian windows and how the finished shutters would complement them.  I chose faux wood over the real wood as they would be easier to maintain in years to come – no painting.

Eight weeks later, Gary was back and spent the morning installing the newly made shutters.  I chose to have five rooms treated with shutters, rooms that needed both privacy and light addressed.  Bedrooms, bathrooms, the lounge and dining room (next to my desk).  Gary, worked quickly and efficiently, fully aware I needed a quick turn around as I was seeing clients that day.  I returned home to find he had finished.

I love my new shutters.  The house now feels secure and uniform throughout.  No mix-matched curtains or ill fitting ‘off the shelf’ high street blinds, instead I have sleek, white, gorgeous shutters.   I just wish I had the rest of the house done at the same time!  Something to aim for in the future.

Thank you Luxaflexuk for my prize and to Gary for your efficient and friendly service.  Luxaflex are currently running another competition..  a chance to win a trip to Milan, Italy.  All you need to do is upload an image of your interior style using the tag #mystyleeye.  More details can be found on their website.

Thank you to Luxaflex for choosing my image!
