Thoughts on // Make memories to last this year…

Make memories

At this time of year, we are all looking forward to what 2016 will bring.  Will we be fitter, travel more, eat better, whether it’s to join the gym, drink less, give up smoking, go vegan or even try being vegetarian, often these are resolutions and promises people seldom keep.

This year, one of my resolutions is to make more of my photography.  Here are a few tips to help:

Make a photo album

Making a photo album of all your best memories is a really good past time and helps you to remember all of the happy moments you have had with friends and family when you look back. In 2016, digital technology will continue to evolve even further meaning more and more people will leave cameras behind in favour of their camera phone device so actual photos mean more than ever. I have recently started to use my DSLR again, leaving my phone firmly in my bag when I am out.   I am planning to make a monthly photo book of my favourite images. There is nothing like looking back over your life and memories.

Canon Powershot SX400 IS

The Canon Powershot SX400 IS is the perfect camera for capturing all your memories to come. Its small size means it’s not too bulky to carry around and it has a 30x zoom feature perfect for capturing every little detail. There’s a competition to win one and the accessories kit to accompany it over at Columbus Direct, head over there to enter.

A new year’s resolution that’s for keeps

Capturing all the good times is a positive new year’s resolution that you can keep and will want to. A new camera makes for a fab start to the New Year. Whether you’re planning to go on a holiday, travel the world, have lots of fun family days out or just love spending time hanging out with your friends, there are countless photo opportunities sure to arise.

So this year, make a resolution that will last a whole year and this time next year you’ll be able to look back on what an amazing year you have had and all the fun things you’ve done. Be extra creative and even make a beautiful photo album of all the fun that you’ve had that you could even gift it to a friend or loved one as a Christmas present next year.

  • I did this last year as I celebrated my 60th birthday which went on for 12 months haha. Some of photos I’ve framed as happy reminders every day.
One technical wonder for me is being able to instantly print of my pics from the phone with my wireless printer

  • This was my “resolution” too – although I’m not really one for resolutions…why wait until January to make a change.
I had planned to take at least one photo a day – but my days aren’t that interesting. So instead I’m just going to take as many photos as possible, of anything and everything, and compile them throughout the months.

I agree – what better way to remember the year.
