Travel // Planning Family Weekends Away..

Oh January, you can be quite a dull and a long month after all the excitement of Christmas. The weather is miserable and I much prefer to stay inside hibernating.  I tend to use this time to plan some fab family weekends away when the weather starts to improve. Here are some ideas to get you inspired to wrap up warm and get out there:

Heading to Cornwall is a great way to spend some family time together in one of the most beautiful places in England. Going in summer is obviously preferred as the golden beaches are beautiful and perfect for sunbathing but a planning a spring weekend there is also a great idea. Dogs are also very welcome in Cornwall so it’s great for all going down together for walks on the beach and there’s tons of things to do from going cliff diving to surfing and kayaking. As far as the UK is concerned it’s the ideal location for the active family.

Centre Parks

Centre Parks is amazing for families wishing to go on holiday in England. There are tons of activities for you to get involved in from horse riding to archery and swimming so it’s great for active families and the accommodation is fantastic. The sites are really safe too so if you want a little me time away from the kids they can go off on their bikes, scooters and skateboards while you have some time alone. There are loads of great decks and roller skates available online which make a great gifts for any kid who you’re worried might be bored on a family break. With centre parks situated in several locations across the UK there’s sure to be one close by for you to enjoy a trip to soon.

Go Ape

For families who love adventure, Go Ape is the best day out but not for the faint hearted. With locations across the country there’s lots of opportunity for a trip to Go Ape to be turned into a weekend away. The fun filled forest adventure parks are packed with great activities from daring zip wires to obstacle courses and tree top adventure courses. Whether you’re a daredevil or not, there’s something for everyone with Segways and zip trekking also available.

Planning family weekends away is a great way to get through January as it gives everyone something fun to look forward to and starts the year with the promise of fun and adventure, so get planning yours today.

  • Hi Lou,
I’m really interested that you are recommending Centre Parcs, I have to admit to having been rather snotty about the idea of going somewhere so organised and part of a chain.
I suppose that I love slightly quirky, unexpected, natural things and organised activities and purpose built accommodation just don’t seem fit the bill.
My daughter would love to go, so, should I throw aside my reservations?

    • Hi Jenny

I always do a holiday for the kids, and then a holiday for me. Centre Parcs is great, the swimming pool alone is worth it. And sometimes it’s just good to sit back and watch the kids have fun, without having to ‘entertain’ them.

Next holiday can be ‘adult’ like gorgeous interiors or amazing City break.

      Win win.
