I adore a cabin. Rustic, made from wood, filled with beautiful furniture and in touch with nature. I long to own one, Dan and I constantly talk about and dream about the future and having a cabin space of our own.
So when I was invited to review the Modern Pastoral book by Niki Brantmark I jumped at it. It is filled with the most beautiful spaces that had me at hello. If you don’t know of Niki she write the award winning interiors blog – My Scandinavian Home.
Dan and I are taking our dream one step closer to the cabin, by turning our shed into a scandi style space. With clean lines and black cladding. Modern Pastoral is giving our little project bags of inspiration. I need to find concrete planters and perhaps some stags antlers or two.
Raw elements, wood, stone and nature run through the book. I love how Niki has shown all aspects of each home, from the living area to the bathroom and even the outside, which most interiors books tend to ignore.
Outside shower! Yes please!!!
Modern Pastoral doesn’t mean brown and grey – no. Niki shares interiors that have included cheeky pops of colour, like this gorgeous dining space, with vintage 50’s chairs and colourful kitchenalia on the shelves above.
This book is an interiors dream. From wood-cladded homes surrounded by tall pines to revamped barns and waterside venues. You can find something within it’s pages to inspire any DIY project. Go grab a copy now.
