Simple Living // William Morris…

43a68d140de62ed129464fa5a1ad2082Today would have been William Morris‘ 182nd birthday.  English textile designer, poet, novelist and socialist activist. Closely associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement, he was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production.

WM is a dude.  He designed the most fabulous freshest patterns that have ever existed  – man I love him for that.  I like his face.  Is that weird to say? Check out that beard!

Last year, I wanted to update our dining room, to add a little interest and colour to the space. Instead of using paint I decided to try wallpaper for the first time, I knew instantly it would be a William Morris design.  To me his work is the most beautiful ever, from intricate floral patterns, to leafy goodness like our dining room to rabbits and lemons on repeat.  We chose ‘willow boughs, major’ in green.

There will always be a room in my house decorated with William Morris, timeless, classic, fresh and full of life – his designs are the true work of magic.  I am discovering new patterns of his all the time.
