May Day Posies.
Sunday was May Day or Beltain if you want to say the correct Pagan name for this festival. Unfortunately / fortunately (which ever way you look at it) I was in Cornwall reviewing a property near St Ives. My #maydayposies had to wait until today when I was home in Bristol and able to give them to my friends and neighbours.
But Sunday, oh Sunday! My instagram feed was full of floral wonders. I was tagged in so many beautiful images it made my heart soar! Thank you all for joining me in reviving this beautiful ancient pagan tradition.
Here are some of my favourites (not that I could choose as all were/are beautiful)…
Hannah Bullivant held a may day posies workshop on Saturday and her workshop attendees surpassed themselves in producing such beauties! Go check out her blog for details.
Friends old and new gave gifts in celebration of May and to warmer days and abundant harvests. I love how each posy was different, lilacs, cow parsley, tulips, hellebores – a real cross over of winter to spring to summer blooms.
And my posies? Well here – my lucky friends received the meagre pickings from my building site of a courtyard. Oh to have an abundant oasis – SOON!
Thank you once again for joining me. Consider this old tradition truly revived! Next year it’s going to take over the world :)
