And just like that October came to a close. Where on earth do the days go? This month we have spent a weekend in the lakes, Dan and I traveled to Penzance for a romantic getaway, I attended a Nespresso event in London and hung out with the brilliant Anna Jones all day! I also learnt loads from Carole Poirot during her styling workshop at the Forge, and I got to taste all the cider at a apple harvest day at Weston’s Cider.
It’s been a busy month.
Half term, we took slow, day trips to nearby places for wild muddy adventures, and walks around pretty leaf covered streets of Bristol. The boys have been under the weather, I think it happens at this time of year… so half term was a good excuse to lounge, watch movies and spend time at home. We needed it.
The Chapel House
You may remember our stay at the wonderful Chapel House in Penzance. The light! The decor! SWOON. I have been asked by This is Your Kingdom to share our stay at this beautiful place in the January 2017 issue of The Simple Things magazine, you heard it here first. Exciting. But do read about it again here.
Blencathra Shepherds Hut
We spent a short but oh so magical weekend in the Lake District, through Canopy and Stars. The Blencathra shepherds hut is a perfect, fully equipped little bolt hole if you want to explore this area. We absolutely love our stay there. Read all about it here.
A weekend of adventure in the Audi Q7
Audi let us loose in their spectacular Q7 for the weekend. Oh wow, this car! It is brilliant. We totally test drove it, by driving up and down Kirkstone Pass in the lakes. Needless to say, Dan fell head over heals in love with it. Read more on the Audi Q7 here.
Food styling workshop with Carole Poirot
I’ve been a long time fan of Carole’s work. She does dark and rustic styling to perfection. So when I saw she was coming to The Forge here in Bristol to run a styling workshop – I signed up without hesitation. The day was fun, charming and I learnt so much. Discover Carole here.
Dan and I have been cracking on with some decorating and de-cluttering (we always seem to be doing this, and no matter how much we get rid of stuff, we still have piles!). The clocks going back always fills me with dread, that old companion Black Dog makes it’s appearance. So in attempt to keep it at bay, we are painting tired walls bright white to bring in the light.
The boys have carved a handsome / scary pumpkin and are ready to spook the hell out of the neighbourhood tonight. I might even dress up too!
I’ve championed Yasmina’s jewellery on the blog before, and I am delighted to have her back on my sidebar for October. I have her ANA circles necklace, which I never take off. It is beautiful, and the 3 rings remind me of my 3 loves.
The Autumn/Winter 2016 magazine is due to launch next week, with a week long pop up at West Elm store in London. Workshops, curated makers and stores will all be collaborating to make this launch spectacular. You can book a place on one of the workshops by visiting their website.
The Future Kept
Can Jeska and Dean adopt me please? They live the absolute best life, always up for an adventure. Photographing, styling, travelling, buying lovely things for their shop… sigh! It’s a dream life. Go visit them – you will want to be adopted too!

Right! It’s this time of year that you NEED a new blanket. Discover beautiful, soft, cosy British made from siblings Bethan and Joe. Blankets in all shades, styles and fabric, there is something for everyone.
