During my trip to Jersey, we had a few hours each morning to explore the island on our own. Looking through all the information given to me by Visit Jersey, I was immediately drawn to the botanical gardens. You know me, I love a garden. So I headed to the East of the island to Samares Manor Botanical Gardens.
Stepping through the gates on a glorious September morning, I knew I was going to enjoy this moment of tranquillity to myself. Perfectly clipped lawns, with a lake and terrace with a cafe. Wandering into the garden, it was laid out into planting beds with medicinal herbs, plants used for fabric dyeing and more.
My favourite spot was the small cacti glasshouse. I love cacti, spiky little creatures. In fact all glasshouses are a huge love of mine.
The other side of the greenhouse is a abundant walled garden with fruit trees, bee hives and vegetables growing. A real harvest of a place.
If you do manage to visit Jersey, I would highly recommend you pay the botanical gardens a visit.
