It’s not often I get excited about a new pop-up in Bristol, but when I heard that Ren London was involved in a pop-up with Ottowin Footwear, I needed to get down there – fast. I’m a long time fan of Ren’s clothing and textiles, in fact I’ve recently interviewed her for the Sisterhood Camp community blog – so look out for that soon.
Her clothes I have admired from afar, so popping into the pop-up gave me a chance to feel them up close, and look at all the beautiful other things on sale there too.
Ottowin Footwear was founded by couple Lucy Lloyd & Oliver Cross in 2016. Born out of a love for traditional footwear craft, contemporary design and a great respect for their chosen material, Leather. All of their footwear is made by Lucy & Ollie in limited editions at the Ottowin Studio, Bristol, UK.
It was wonderful listening to Oliver talk about his work. How that a certain mustard yellow leather hide was running out of stock from his suppliers, and how he found the last one hidden to make his shoes. Sounds very elves and the shoe maker to me.
Alongside the footwear and Ren clothing womens wear and textiles, are many other talented artisans. Underwear from Pico Project. Jewellery from Zoe Morton and Polly Collins. In fact I’ve ordered myself a ring from Zoe’s collection – it’s just beautiful.
Let’s put it this way, this shop is the kind of shop I would dearly love to own. Actually scratch that, this shop is the kind of place I’d like to live in and have access to 24/7. Beautiful clothes, jewellery and shoes – great artwork. Sunlight pouring in.
What’s not to love!?
