Inspiration | August Muses – creative projects…

This months mood board see’s me getting inspired by creative projects. I am always surprised at how strong the ‘back to school – back to learning’ urge is in me.  Come the final weeks of summer and I’m ready for my metaphorical pencil case.

Once the kids are back at actual school, I am wanting to get stuck into some creative projects of my own. So with this in mind, I’ve been pouring over Pinterest and collecting ideas to get my creative juices going.

Kitchen project

That old chestnut.  It seems we are going around in circles on this side return. With £50k to find, for the extension of our dreams, we may have to settle for something less grand.

I’m hoping for crittal doors and a marble-esque worktop – but again it’s all about the budget.

I love to cook, so why don’t I do it more often?  I mean I cook – daily, but I’m bored by the meals I’m preparing. It’s time to dust off those cookbooks and really COOK!  Nutritious, seasonal dishes that is going to delight and inspire my family.

I want to change up the way I take images. Try a new style, develop a different eye. I love this birdseye view of the beach. Perhaps I need to get a drone?  Or try a different style of editing.

Are you the same as me?  Do you like to have a creative rethink in late August / early September? Do you ‘suffer’ from back to school syndrome? Leave me a comment below, I’d love to know your new creative projects.

  • Yes, I can relate to this so much! I often say ‘last year’ in November, meaning somewhere in April. My head is still so stuck in schoolyears. This autumn I am moving to my first ‘big girl house’ (ie. a bought house), so my creative projects will mainly involve decorating and remodelling.

  • Why don’t you get a fake marblesque top to start off with? That saves you a couple of grand straight off. Then when you have your gorgeous kitchen, you can always start saving again to replace the fake with the real. Meanwhile though, you are in your brand new kitchen! Also, you do not need a drone. Use the money towards a kitchen! I found when I was trying to save money for something big, I got bored after a few weeks/months and I’d buy myself something to cheer me up. Something I didn’t need and I would have been better put towards whatever I was saving for. The amount of money I’d spend on coffee alone!

    • Yes, Heidi, I find myself doing the same thing!! I want to build my own small home under 1000 sq. ft. but saving has been taking foooorever. I find myself oogling little things here and there for more instant gratification instead of continuing to save. I’m glad I’m not alone!
