Travel | A stay at the Methuen Arms, Corsham…

Last Friday we had a little getaway, an over night stay at the pretty Methuen Arms in Corsham.  Invited to review the boutique b&b for the blog.  Luckily they said yes to us taking the boys with us, and booked us into to two adjoining rooms, which had a private corridor between.

Arriving just after 5pm, we checked into our beautiful rooms, and settled ourselves in for the evening.  All the rooms at The Methuen Arms are decorated in period Farrow & Ball colours, and most have a gorgeous roll top bath and large super king sized bed.

After unpacking our overnight bag, we headed downstairs to the lively bar, full of locals having an after work drink (it was a Friday after all).  Sleeping dogs lay under tables, whilst locals sat chatting with friends.

The four of us settled at a table in the bar, and enjoyed a drink and a game of Uno before dinner.

Dinner was served in the separate dining room.  I chose seared scallops for starter and leek arancini for main.  The boys chose from the pub menu and had the biggest burgers I’ve ever seen.  Dan had an Asian style beef brisket for starter and halibut for main.  It was all beautifully served and utterly delicious.

After a lovely bath and a good restful sleep, it was time breakfast.  Back in the dining room there was a continental style breakfast to choose from.  Plus a hot breakfast from the menu.  Helping ourselves to granola, pastries and fruit.  Later eggs, all washed down with coffee.

Then it was time to leave.  Sadly we packed up the car, but before we left Corsham, we wandered the the high street discovering pretty houses in the honey coloured Cotswold stone.

Sadly we couldn’t get into see Corsham Court, which I am told is lovely.  There was a private event on.  But we did see the famous Peacocks roaming the streets.

Thanks to the Methuen Arms for inviting us to stay for the night.  It was really rather lovely.
