Beauty | Summer skin care – July…

This summer I’m looking to boost my skins GLOW. Drinking lots of water, eating my greens and exercising – all help to maintain a healthy complexion.  But I’m also wanting soft, glowing skin.  A golden shine.  I’m not one to sit in the sun, baking, for hours… preferring to get a light tan and add some golden make-up to boost it.  At my age I am needing to maintain the youthfulness I may have, and NOT add to the wrinkles – it’s a case of damage limitation!

So what am I using at the moment?

Avene Solaire B protect 50spf

Facial SPFs are a must in the summer.  The highest the SPF the better.  This one by Avene is 50spf and this one is tinted so it can be used instead of a foundation.  The long-lasting tinted cream with anti-oxidant complex for sensitive skin provides a radiant, nude skin finish and protect the skin from free-radical damage. Contains patented SunSitive® for effective photoprotection and Avène Thermal Spring Water to soothe.

Weleda Skin Food Light

Skin Food is my all time favourite moisturising cream – the original is thick, and takes a fair bit of rubbing in to get it soaked into the skin.  But there is nothing like how this cream makes my skin feel.  I love to use it at night, after my usual cleanse, retinol and then skin food… to really deeply hydrate my skin.

The silky lotion combines organic Sunflower oil with natural extracts of calendula, pansy and chamomile. It provides the skin with instant moisture and protects from drying out. The light formulation helps support the regeneration of the skin’s protective barrier. The newly launched lighter version absorbs quickly, and the best bit – my boys don’t mind having it swept across dry or sun burnt skin.

Dior Capture Youth Intense Rescue Serum

New to me this little serum targets dry, stressed skin deficient in lipids. The Intense Rescue serum helps repair dryness for skin that feels instantly nourished, supple and comfortable.  And it really does. My skin feels wonderfully soft, and has a healthy feel to it.  It’s active ingredients are Argan Oil which nourishes the skin, offering an instant feeling of comfort. Fatty acids from Tamanu (a seed from Asia) helps to  strengthen the skin barrier and soften the skin.   I just add 2 to 3 drops directly to a dollop of Skin Food to give my skin an overnight nourishing treat.

Dior Capture Youth Glow Booster Serum

This one gives you the GLOW!  A real radiance concentrate, this serum offers skin all the benefits of the Kakadu plum. 100 times more concentrated in vitamin C than an orange, this serum has a glowing action thanks to an exfoliating effect and is perfect in combating a dull complexion.

I use this serum at night, after cleansing.  A few drops rubbed in. Leave it to soak.  Then add my skin food, with or with out the Intense Rescue serum added.  The next morning I have brighter looking skin – greyness gone.
