Before Christmas I was invited to a day retreat at the newly opened NOW yoga studio here in Bristol. Owned by the super Pip Roberts. The timing for this retreat couldn’t have come at a better time. Frazzled from work and the Christmas prep, I was so looking forward to a day of self-care and reflection.
Arriving in Easton, Bristol, I headed upstairs to discover the new space. Bright, light and welcoming. Pip greeted us with a warm smile and a cup of chamomile tea. The space has soft cork tiles and white washed walls. Pip has thought really hard about the ‘feel’ of the studio, warm materials, soft sheepskin (vegan friendly), blankets and cushions. Everything is so aesthetically pleasing, in tonal greys, whites and blacks – no jarring garish colours, Pip has thought of soothing colours to allow relaxation.
Pip took us through a gentle yoga session, with slow movements and lots of lying down. I can get on board with this kind of yoga. Lying there on the mats with the beautiful Blasta Henriet eye mask on, I found myself drift away. Pip’s voice talking us through the meditation, and giving us permission to just be.
Lunch was a vegan affair downstairs in the wonderful Dela restaurant. Utterly delicious as always. It was great to sit and chat with my fellow Bristol babes, and catch up on lives.
After lunch the studio was transformed into a workshop space (which is the plan for the studio, a photography and workshops can be help there around the yoga sessions). Loulabel Florals showed us how to make our own smudge sticks using scented foliage of bay, rosemary, eucalyptus. Such a lovely meditative way to spend a few hours.
Thank you Pip for such a lovely day.
