I love Cornwall, especially St Ives. The light, the way it bounces off the sea does something so uniquely special here. I suppose it is why many artists through the decades have called this place home. Last weekend we headed back down south again, for our annual pilgrimage to Kernow, this time to stay at Una St Ives. Una is a self-catering resort in Carbis Bay, just outside of St Ives.
Arriving on Friday evening, we checked into our four-bed cedar clad lodge. The sunlight bounced around the spacious home, with large glass windows taking in the views. Our lodge had four large double bedrooms and ample living space, waaaay bigger than our home, we soon settled into lounging and living.
Downstairs there is a large open plan living space, with a high-spec kitchen, complete with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and wine cooler. The lounge has a contemporary log burner to gather around for extra hygge in the winter months and large comfy sofas to cosy up on.
The resort has 2, 3 or 4 bed lodges to rent, some with a hot tub. These cedar-clad holiday homes bring together all the elements of a perfect retreat. The surrounding grounds offer peace and privacy
of landscaped gardens and relaxation spaces, whilst enjoying the many on-site facilities.
Friday evening we headed to the resort hub for dinner in the award winning Una Kitchen where wood-fired dining is on the menu. We enjoyed wood-fired pizza with fresh ingredients, Charlie had a burger and Dan the pan-fried Hake. Utterly delicious!
Opposite the restaurant is the spa and leisure facilities, including a gym, infinity pool, children’s pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. We had a fantastic time in there, the kids splashing around and I relaxing in the sauna. My only negative on the leisure facilities is that they aren’t open in the evening, and the changing rooms are too small.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Una St Ives, and spent our time wandering St Ives and local area, more on that in another post.
Una St Ives spans 17.5 acres and is a cluster of stylish holiday homes set less than a mile from Carbis Bay, near St Ives. With an initial phase of 29 beautifully designed houses. Phase 2 is currently underway, so there is construction work on site, but not terrible, it didn’t distract us. Phase 2 will see further homes built plus another restaurant and further facilities.
