I love this shot. Not technically great as it is over exposed and a little fuzzy.  BUT what makes it special to me is the subject.  This image shows the four most important men in my life.  My Dad, Dan, and my sons. Lost in the moment, gathering conkers.  Sometimes the best photographs are the ones that make you smile.

Happy Equinox!

Rufus, Ruby & the cousins...

Yesterday we had our bi-annual gathering of family and cousins.
Mainly to celebrate the birthday's of Rufus and Ruby who are both 4 (but 2 weeks apart).
What must life be like being 4?
Well, you can flip your hair around.
Eat cake.
Run around giggling.
Pull silly faces.
Climb on everything.
And generally look very very cute.
Then there are the cousins.. older cousins who lead you astray, who pull equally silly faces, jump up and down, climb on everything and eat cake.
There, that was yesterday... oh and we saw the sea.....
AHhhhhhh the sea.

fun filled weekend...

This weekend we visited Whipsnade Zoo, stayed overnight in a hotel and had a BBQ with family.  It was a fun filled action packed weekend.

Whipsnade was wonderful.  We saw Elephants and giraffes which the boys hadn't seen before.  I think the giraffes were my favourite.  They are enormous and so so graceful.  Both Ru & Charlie loved the seals the best, partly because they sprayed the audience with a hose!

The following day, we headed over to my Nan's home.  She has lived in the same house all my life, and visiting is like stepping back into my memories as a child.  I love her garden, over grown and large.  Huge trees and shrubs dominate, once these were small, we used to hide amongst them.  Now my sons tumble around, finding their own dens.

I loved hanging out with my family, feeling relaxed and seeing the boys happy.  Something we need to do more often.

p.s. don't forget my little giveaway... you have just a week to enter.

Today we took a trip up North to Solihull to meet up with family.
The cousins played so well together, naturally pairing off with their prefered cousin.
Rufus & Ruby stole the show with their humour, smiles and general cuteness.
A great day, great kids, great to see family.

Have a Happy Happy Happy! 2011 lovelies...

The Grand Opening

These gorgeous monkeys are cousins... can you see the family resemblance?

Yes, my eldest was on his best behaviour as you can see!

Today was our bi-annual family gathering. The Taylor's of Leeds came down for a weekend visit, which is great as we don't get to see as much of each other as we would like.

I felt at this get together the cousins bonded more and had a wild time playing in the park outside the village hall.

Tricia (my mother in law), hired the village hall for a couple of hours, so we had a lovely buffet lunch, the children played games and the adults took lots of photos!!

It was great fun.  Although by 2.30 I thought Rufus was going to self combust, he grew so hot running around, climbing and being Mr Cheeky, a change of scene was due.

We all de-camped to Dan's parent's home near by for the:

Grand Opening of the Observatory!

Trevor (Dan's Dad) has for the past year been building in his garden his own Observatory.  As a keen astronomer he was given an amazing telescope for his 60th birthday a few years ago, and after struggling in and out of the house on good stargazing nights he decided to build his own observatory.

It is incredible.  It turns, it has a fibre glass dome which opens to reveal the night sky.  A true labour of love.

Today it was opened by Trevor and his grandchildren.

Before the ribbon was cut, we all wore sunglasses to watch the fireworks, the dark shades gave impact during the day.

Once Trevor opened the door, the Grandchildren all went in for a tour.

Well done Trevor for all your hard work, the Observatory is brilliant.

Here's to many an hour gazing at the heavens.
