The day after...

Hello! Merry Christmas.  This has been a truely great Christmas... we have laughed, eaten the most amazing feasts, hugged, enjoyed spending time with family & friends.  Found new favourite toys. And have loved taking it slow and going with the flow.

This afternoon, we took a much needed amble through the woods, with good friends and Josie the friendly dog.

Good times.

The Elves and the Shoemaker

After all the 'Elving' we have been doing here at home... we took a break and went to see some other kind of Elves.

We are lucky enough to have the Tobacco Factory Theatre just down the road from us, and this year for the panto they put on a charming production of the Elves and the Shoemaker.

Such a magical show.  Really clever the use of puppetry to portray the Elves.  Colourful, funny and utterly magical.

We laughed, ooh and ahhed, gasped and thoroughly loved the whole performance.

Just long enough for little people to still be enthralled without becoming too bored.

We went with our lovely friends, and I hope this will become a tradition for future Christmases.

If you are in the local area, I would recommend you to go.

I feel so Christmasy now!

True Friendship

Today a friend of mine came to lunch.  We have been friends for many years
, went to India together, worked together, she was there when Dan and I met and was part of our daily lives for a long time.

Antonia moved away some years ago, and we lost contact because of busy lives, having children and just time moving too fast! (you know how it is... but really it's no excuse).

Since this time, my two boys have grown, and she has had a daughter herself (Isobel) who is now 2.

Today is my first time in 2 and half years of seeing Ant - and it was like we haven't been apart.

Yes, it was emotional... became teary eyed several times.  But, we were soon chatting like I saw her yesterday.

A sign of true friendship!

Her daughter is the sweetest girl I have ever met.  Charlie & Rufus were totally taken by her cheeky charm... like a little sister playing with them.

As Ant left, we vowed we wouldn't leave it so long .... I hope not, I hadn't realised how much I had missed her and that feeling of complete relaxed acceptance from a true friend.
