Another from my ‘Scenes from Sunday’ series, where I hope to share our Sunday adventures every week. This Sunday we drove an hour south from Bristol to Somerset and the Quantock hills, hoping to see purple heather, wild ponies and far reaching views. What I wasn’t expecting was a huge connection to nature….
Hauser & Wirth gallery in Bruton, Somerset is one of my all time favourite places. Yes, the gallery and it’s resident artists are cool, thought provoking and inspiring, but I tend to dash through all of that, itching to get outside into the garden. The garden, well, if you love gardens and plants as much as I do, then you will find it heavenly. Designed by Piet Oudolf, the internationally-renowned landscape designer from the Netherlands. Swathes of ‘prairie style’ planting engulf
The Dimpsey is unlike any ‘glamping’ site I have ever stayed at. Most shepherds huts that are set up for a weekend retreat tend to have a minimal look, just the bed and a log burner with little ‘mod cons’ inside. Don’t get me wrong I do like minimal, but sometimes an en-suite is was what I really need when it comes to holidaying in a field. The Dimpsey has it all. Beautiful location, set on a working small holding
A few weeks ago, I was invited by Canopy & Stars to attend a special blogger event. It was the inaugural #cscollective. A group of bright & talented lifestyle, travel and mummy bloggers were asked to spend the day at Harptree Court in Somerset. To our delight they invited us to stay for the night in the treehouse! YUP! Dan and I drew the lucky straw and was given a one night pass to this beauty! We still can’t believe
I couldn’t visit Bruton, without a trip to At The Chapel. My first trip there! It seems that everyone has been here apart from me. What!!! the horror! After our walk around the nearby art gallery Hauser & Wirth, we had worked up quite an appetite. The Chapel it was, for pizza and cakes.
Well, yesterday turned out to be beautiful! What a sunny, glorious day – felt like high summer, let alone Easter Monday. I’ve been wanting to visit Hauser & Wirth in Somerset for some time now, but have saved it for a sunny day as I wanted to enjoy the garden too. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this place, and couldn’t wait to get down there.
Dan and I try to go on a few dates each month, a chance for us to reconnect and talk about life without the interruptions of two wild kids. Our dates can range from a trip to the cinema, a walk in the woods or lunch somewhere wonderful.
Dan and I rarely have time to ourselves. Date night? What is that? The closest we get to having to a date, is a curry in front of the TV! But, last weekend we were delighted to steal a night away just the two of us. The Francis Hotel is a perfect weekend city break. Situated in central Bath, within walking distance of the spa, Milsom Street shops and the Royal Circus, makes it a wonderful place to stay for
