Happy New Year!
So here it is 1.1.14.
I feel ready, fresh and raring to go.  Ready to embrace all that 2014 has to offer.
I am excited, full of wonder of what this year will bring.
This year there is so much I wish to achieve, wish to feel and wish to grow….  I want to give more time to things I love to do, spend time with people I love, visit places, use the allotment more. Bake, cook, develop recipes.  Learn how to take better photographs, take a few courses, move the blog in new directions…
So for 2014 my word is….   NOURISH
to sustain with food or nutriment; supply with what is necessary for life, health, and growth.
to cherish, fosterkeep alive, etc.: He had long nourished the dream of living abroad.
to strengthen, build up, or promote: to nourish the arts in one’s community.
* I want to get back to basics.  Fuel myself with good whole foods, straight from my allotment. Get fit and strong.  Feed my children with food that will help them grow.
* Simplify living, de-clutter, and decorate the home. Furnish it simply with beautiful homely items that will last .  Buy once and buy well.
* Spend time with friends far and near – nourish relationships, mine and the boys.
* Move this blog into new directions – learn to say No to somethings and yes to others.
* Develop my freelance, writing, drawing and blogging… take it on new routes and collaborations.
* Slow down, nourish my soul. Step away from the computer, live a whole life. Be in the moment.
* Live lightly and smile often
* Play more
* Have plans to look forward to – holidays, adventures… so much to do!

This is the year of me… to really feel I’ve taken time to look after myself, my family and nourish us and embrace the new.

I have already some wonderful new series of posts in the pipeline – maybe a few new link ups, if you’d like to join in with me?  Think food, nostalgia, homes, and of course plants!  Exciting times ahead.
I am also thinking of opening up advertising again on the blog.  But only if you feel I should.  Would it annoy you seeing ad’s there, or would you be interested in having your small business up there?  Let me know…
So Happy New Year lovely friends – here’s to wishing you a wonderful New Year!
What is your word?  I’d love to know.
  • Happy New yr! Great post. I share many of your dreams. My buzzword for 2014 is “reduce” (yes, I did Nick it from Bob the builder!). Reduce the amount of things I am doing, but do them better. Reduce our Stuff. Reduce how much we spend on food. (We also have an allotment, so this may help here!) Loving your January pinterest xxx

  • I am loving all the word posts. Mine is still bumping round the inside of my head, not quite fully formed yet. It will come I am sure. Happy New Year, and I wish you health and happiness for 2014 x

  • what a lovely sentiment for new years resolutions, so positive, rather than all of the negativity of stopping things and cutting out things. Having come to blogging in the middle of last year, and my perfectionist personality not allowing me to join in with something part way through, I have been looking forward to the opportunity to link up with projects rather than just read everyone else’s contributions. Can’t wait to read about yours, and hopefully join in!

  • Ooooh, I’m feeling excited for 2014 reading this post!! Looking forward to the link ups! Xx

  • Happy new year babe, wishing you achieve all you wish for. I will be here on your journey, reading and joining in when I can, Natalie xx

  • Happy New Year, Lou! I’m still working on my word for 2014 – so many to choose from! – but am so excited. Completely agree with your plans for the year – and am interested to know more about the link ups.
    Onwards and upwards!
    Sarah x

  • Would you please write a post about the allotment? We Americans don’t know what it is and I see it talked about in a lot of English blogs. Thanks, and Happy New Year.

  • Ooh I love it your word. I have been working through the Desire Map by Danielle la Porte and it is about defining your core desired feelings. One of mine is ‘nourishment’ so I will be interested to see what you do through the year to create this in your life. Also spotted this today on pinterest http://www.pinterest.com/pin/177962622749459207/

  • My word is Rehabilitate- to return someone or something to a good or healthy condition, state, or way of living.

  • Happy New Year!

A wonderful list, and very similar to some of my aims – buy less, buy better, say no etc. Enjoy!
