I couldn’t visit Bruton, without a trip to At The Chapel. My first trip there! It seems that everyone has been here apart from me. What!!! the horror!
After our walk around the nearby art gallery Hauser & Wirth, we had worked up quite an appetite. The Chapel it was, for pizza and cakes.
Situated on the pretty High Street in the village of Bruton, it as a beautiful place to stop for a while.
The main restaurant area is still very much like the original chapel, stripped floors, high ceilings and tall windows which flood the room with light.
We sat and enjoyed our surroundings, feasting of the best food. Charlie needed the loo, which allowed me a chance to explore (nose) elsewhere. Downstairs is the club room, a bar area and terrace to sit out and enjoy the sun. Upstairs, next to the restaurant is the bakery and winestore, perfect for popping in and grabbing something yummy.
The part of the Chapel I didn’t see, was the rooms. Eight beautifully styled rooms to stay in. Perhaps one day we shall treat ourselves to a little r & r, grown up style, no kids! But for now it was just wonderful to relax and eat pizza with my family.
I will return and soon!
