There are home tours, and then there are HOME TOURS. You know the ones that make your heart leap, and fill you with inspiration with every corner. This house, this home is all of this, to me. The talented interiors duo Tara Mangini and Percy Bright of Jersey Ice Cream Co, who provide a full-service design of a property and are known for their unique approach in which they literally move into a space to get a better feel for it. The duo’s latest project is this Revolutionary War home in the Hudson Valley, USA.
I found myself re-pinning different rooms of this house, without realising they were all one house. When I did discover this on Remodelista, my heart fell for it’s rough raw light filled rooms. Take this bedroom, for example. Percy made those little built in cupboards either side of the bed. So sweet. I love how he used reclaimed doors and hasn’t bothered to make them ‘new’, leaving the old paint as is.
The wallpaper in the bedroom above is Amime, by Farrow & Ball. Which, coincidentally is the exact wallpaper I have chosen for our hallway renovation! Kismet! I love how the subtle hues of the wallpaper is picked out by placing a natural wood shelf with natural finds. And that portrait and pillow give a gentle hit of colour in a very paired back space.
This room makes me want to move to the country and own a little cottage with rough wooden beams. I would replicate this look by adding tongue & groove panelling to the walls and painting the fire place to match.
You can read more about the renovation over on Remodelista, where these images are from.
