This summer has been epic. Sunshine most days, a balmy heatwave, with very little rain. I don’t remember weather like it. Like most, these temperatures have left me in a fashion conundrum, what the hell do I wear?
I’m a jeans, trainers and a top kinda girl. It’s my ‘go to’ wardrobe. But with temperatures reaching the mid 30’s these items made my skin boil. So what have I worn? Well, dresses, cotton trousers with a t-shirt, and my new favourite, Stalf short jumpsuit.
STALF STUDIOS are based in the Lincolnshire Wolds, UK. Each item is designed and handmade in their studio. Choosing to not design for mass-production or wholesale, instead they hand make small quantities of each of their garments to order. Meaning that each piece is unique and special.
This one item of clothing has saved my life. Seriously! I wore it every day on holiday in Italy. The perfect throw on item to head to the pool. Ice-cream pink colour, I wore it with a simple white t-shirt underneath, or with a pale blue linen shirt draped loosely over the top.
The short jumpsuit is roomy and comfortable. The shorts are mid-thigh in length on me, so enough of my legs are covered / uncovered if you see what I mean. My middle-aged modesty is kept intact.
I also love that they are slouchy. Nothing digging in, or clinging too tightly in the heat – that’s the last thing I wanted. And the pale pink colour highlighted my tan, and gave me the ‘on holiday’ vibe I was after.
My advise, is invest in a pair. Seriously do, and whilst you are at it, purchase a long pair too. I have the long cocoon jumpsuit in steal grey. I wear them with my Veja trainers, a white tshirt underneath.
So, what are you summer staples? Do you shop independent?
