Beauty | Late summer favourites…

jo malone perfume, toast soap, marble dish

Late summer feels.  Slanted sunlight, and golden hues.  The light has changed, and so has my taste in beauty products.  I’m reaching for light fragrances, with woody tones, and salty top notes.  Enriching creams to soothe my summer parched skin.

Autumn is on it’s way, and I can feel it, and I want to smell and taste it too.  My August, late summer, skin care routine has been simplified.  A good soap for my body, scented with geranium, reminiscent of Mediterranean villages where red blooms fall from window boxes.   I love this glycerine soap from TOAST.  Before the package was opened the smell was pouring through.  My bathroom is scented by it.

The soap is made using single-source essential oils, chosen for their skin kindliness and delicious natural scent. Made in Lancashire, UK, they are hand cut and stamped.  They are suitable for vegans & free from animal testing.  Made from sustainable palm oil through the RSPO scheme. This scheme ensures that the palm oil used comes from established plantations and not from land created by the destruction of rain forest.

I’m wearing this gorgeous perfume from Jo Malone daily.  The Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne has a  light salty scent which reminds me of walking along a windswept shore. Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray. Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs. Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage. Lively, spirited and totally joyful.  Perfect for this time of year, when you are desperate to hang on to that holiday feeling.

Honeyed pear and amber hand wash from Woods of Windsor, is a permanent fixture by my kitchen sink.  A heady scent of autumn harvests, in a beautiful pump bottle.  A luxurious non-drying moisturising hand wash that provides a luxurious lather and leaves hands feeling clean, soft and delicately fragranced. 90% naturally derived ingredients. Paraben free. A warm, sweet floral fragrance with citrus top notes and a fruity floral heart of pear, gardenia, lily of the valley, rose, jasmine and almond, enhanced with notes of woods and vanilla.

Finally, my all time favourite cream, Weleda Skin Food.  I don’t know about you, but certain parts of my body are really dry, especially my legs.  I love to lather this cream on after a post gym shower, letting the cream sink into my dry knees and feet.  Skin Food is a universal saviour of dry, rough skin on faces, elbows, hands and feet. With extracts of gentle viola tricolour, calendula and chamomile, in a rich, thick base of oils and beeswax, Skin Food loves your skin back to its best.  And if Victoria Beckham swears by it, then so do I!
