I have never been Stateside, apart from a short stop over in LA to change planes and fly on to the UK. It was a tantalising glimpse of California, I did get to see the famous Hollywood sign though, albeit from the departure lounge of LAX. The States hasn’t really held much of a holiday pull for me, except for wanting to visit New York or fly right across to Southern California. I mean, who wouldn’t to holiday with the stars in Malibu?
Ok – I hear ya, but that’s waaaay outta my league. Really? Then take a look at this lovely place. Surfrider Hotel in Malibu. Laid back, beautifully styled and won’t break the bank, I promise…
A CALIFORNIA BEACH HOUSE
Wanna live out your inner Keanu Reeves in Point Break, then head to Surfrider Hotel. Located on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, across the street from the world-famous Surfrider beach, just 30 mins drive from the Leo Carillo beach where Point Break was filmed.
The Surfrider is a modern California Beach House, inspired by the picturesque Malibu landscape and rich heritage of California surf culture. Personifying Malibu’s historic beach-town community, the complete redesign of the original 1950s-era motel has transformed The Surfrider into a contemporary boutique hotel with 20 rooms that gives guests an unparalleled and elevated visit to Malibu. The Surfrider – the new standard of relaxed coastal living.
Rooms are decorated in simple shades of white with rustic wood and basket weave textures. Doors and windows open up to ocean views perfect for watching the surf.
As well as beautiful decor, beach and views – you can enjoy surfing lessons, surfboard and wetsuit hire, and shop the hotel look in their on site boutique store.
So, are you coming? I’m not a surfer, only had one lesson, but I wouldn’t mind trying it again if I was staying here. Are you a surfer or a surf observer?
